Data Sheets

Data Sheets: Detailed, Authoritative, and All-inclusive

What Are They and What Are They Used For?

Product data sheets get into the nitty-gritty of your complex products. They help explain the value of your products or service to a prospect’s problem. It’s a deep-dive brochure focusing on a single product or service.

Product Data Sheets

Data sheets help prospects with a recommendation or buy decision. They fill the need for specific data and information. Data sheets include descriptions, graphs, charts, and photos.

They may be printed in color or black and white. And they’re available in hard and soft copy.

They serve as stand-alone documents, or you can post them to your website. You’ll see sales personnel pass them out at trade shows.

You’ll also find them in media kits. They’re chock full of information. And they’re also quite handy.

Data sheets have expanded to the web, because prospect find them useful. They’re gaining traction.

Are Data Sheets Still Relevant?

As implied above, data sheets are relevant.  They provide useful data and information.  Data sheets provide details necessary for engineers and technical experts to make informed decisions. They‘re known as technical specs. They offer everything you need to know about a product or service. And they’re in high demand at B2B trade shows.

Who Should Write Your Data Sheets?

It helps to have an expert write data sheets.

Again, as an “Industry Insider”, I have the experience and expertise my peers don’t. That means I’ll produce more expert copy in less time. Of course, I don’t know it all. So when I do have to learn about a new product or service, my learning curve is much shorter.

Additionally, I’m a certified technical writer. That means I write accurate, detailed and informative data sheets.

However, I don’t just write about specs. I also highlight features and benefits. This sets up the “unique” aspects of your product. I avoid jargon and write in a clear and concise manner. Your prospects will get all the essential information they need to purchase your product – not the competition’s.

To give you a better idea of the differences between brochures and data sheets see the chart below.
